Global network

History

Kreston was formed in 1971 by two entrepreneurs, Dr. Gabriel Brotzl of the German accounting firm Bansbach, and Michael Ross, who was then a partner at UK accounting firm Finnie & Co. They established Kreston to allow independent and more entrepreneurial firms to access a global network and compete with the larger firms that were beginning to consolidate. The two founders were eager to offer an alternative to the ever-increasing dominance of these larger players, and a natural fit for midsize organizations that are taking their first steps into the international arena.

Kreston celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021 and is now called Kreston Global in recognition of the expansion of the network. It stays true to the founders’ values of providing responsive, empathetic, and personal support for medium-sized entrepreneurial companies and individuals to expand overseas. Kreston Global is a network of 22,000 people across 170 independent accounting firms in more than 120 countries. Founded 50 years ago, the goal remains to help businesses and individuals succeed internationally.

Forum of Firms

Kreston Global is a member of the “Forum of Firms” (FoF). The FoF is an association of international networks of accounting firms who perform transnational audits. It operates as a Kitemark of quality and promotes consistent, high-quality standards of financial reporting and auditing practices around the world.
